Film Fest Ghent premia i compositori cinematografici con l'album "World Soundtrack Awards: Tribute to the Film Composer"
Per celebrare il ventesimo anniversario dei World Soundtrack Awards, il Film Fest Ghent dedica il suo album annuale a tutti i tredici vincitori dell'ambito premio World Soundtrack Film Composer of the Year negli ultimi due decenni. L'album uscirà il 23 ottobre 2020 e si chiama World Soundtrack Awards: Tribute to the Film Composer. Proprio come i precedenti album della WSA, la musica è eseguita dalla Brussels Philharmonic e diretta dal maestro Dirk Brossé.
Il 24 ottobre 2020 si svolgeranno i ventesimi World Soundtrack Awards. In onore di questo anniversario, Film Fest Ghent presenta un album unico. World Soundtrack Awards: Tribute to the Film Composer presenta brani appena registrati da tutti i vincitori del premio Film Composer of the Year. In passato, questo premio è stato vinto da Angelo Badalamenti, Nicholas Britell, Carter Burwell, Mychael Danna, Alexandre Desplat, Patrick Doyle, Michael Giacchino, Elliot Goldenthal, James Newton Howard, Alberto Iglesias, Jóhann Jóhannsson, John Williams e Gabriel Yared. Per rendere giustizia alla loro eredità, la Filarmonica di Bruxelles, Vlaams Radiokoor e il maestro Dirk Brossé si sono recati al leggendario Studio 4 di Flagey a Bruxelles.
In omaggio a questi maestri della musica da film, questo album fa il possibile, presentando, quasi esclusivamente, registrazioni in studio di brani e arrangiamenti che non sono mai stati pubblicati prima su CD. Ciò include suite da concerto, come The Imitation Game di Desplat e Star Trek di Giacchino, in Darkness and Beyond, e arrangiamenti orchestrali speciali, come The Voice of Love di Twin Peaks di Badalamenti e Never Forget di Doyle da Murder on the Orient Express. Questo album presenta anche la prima uscita della musica per Fear di Carter Burwell e Troy dal vincitore del WSA Lifetime Achievement Award 2020 Gabriel Yared.
Due straordinarie bonus track completano l'album: la prima uscita della Fanfare dei World Soundtrack Awards, scritta da Elmer Bernstein appositamente per la cerimonia di premiazione, e Tribute to the Film Composer, un favoloso omaggio arrangiato da John Williams che riunisce ben 23 diversi Temi dei film vincitori di Oscar o nominati all'Oscar.
